Women’s Month: 10 Powerful Life Quotes From Great Women

Happy New Month Guys! And of course, welcome to women’s month. For those who don’t know, in a number of countries, March has been declared women’s history month, and so here on TPH, we’re going to be celebrating girls/ladies/women all over the world, because like Beyoncé rightly said, we run the world! Today’s #mondayinspiration post is basically a round-up of 10 powerful life quotes to live by, written/said by some of the most amazing women out there.

I hope your day is going well?

Women are unique, strong, powerful and beautiful creatures who deserve to be celebrated every single day. All over the world, we see women, both young and old, of diverse cultures and races, making huge impacts and differences, empowering and taking responsibilities in the various spheres and sectors they find themselves in. This is very inspiring, and definitely something worth celebrating and emulating.

I mean, yeah, I would be super elated if mother nature could at least get rid of the cramps and every other pain possible, but nonetheless, I am always proud to be a woman because through it all, we thrive.

This round-up of inspiring quotes given by these great women is something to remind ourselves of everyday regardless of your gender, as it helps to put life in perspective.

1. “A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.”Diane Mariechild.
If as a woman, you were not yet aware of your power, now you know that you’re the real deal! Walk in that light.

2. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”Eleanor Roosevelt.
You need to understand that nobody has the power to make you feel small. Your reality is confidence and strength, and that is how you should carry yourself.

3. “You can be the lead in your own life.”Kerry Washington
Now I know this might seem like a ‘no-brainer’ but it’s not always the case, trust me. It’s called ‘your’ life for a reason, and that’s because it belongs to you and you were bestowed with it for a reason, to be the lead and stand out. Society, Family and friends may tell or show you otherwise, but the earlier you get acquainted to this truth that you should take the front seat in your own life, the happier you’d be.

4. “Power’s not given to you, you have to take it.”Beyoncé Knowles Carter
As ‘violent’ (and I use that in the loosest way possible) as this may sound, you need to understand that certain things like power and opportunities may not be given to you, you have to take it, and that’s when success begins.

5. “Embrace what makes you unique even if it makes others uncomfortable.”Janelle Monaé
Your uniqueness and individuality is what makes you a standard. You can decide to be like everyone else, and remain unseen, but the moment you decide to embrace that which distinguishes you, that’s when everything changes. Now, not everybody is going to like this. In fact, you might have to severe ties with certain people because they can’t relate to this new you, and that’s more than okay.

6. “Loving yourself will set you free”Teddy Quinlivan
These days, everyone seems to have an opinion of how you should look, talk, eat, walk, what you should wear, where you should go, you know, basically how to live your life. Self love and confidence sets you free from these world standards, because then you know that you don’t need to conform to these ideals of how to live your life.

7. “When they go low, we go high”Michelle Obama
As a serious minded individual who knows where they are going, you have no business trying to stoop to anyone’s level. This level of theirs might not allow you to see what’s ahead, it only keeps you in that moment. But, because you’re a person with hope and foresight, you know that there’s enough room up there and you need to take that high road.

8. “Minister to the world in a way that can change it. Minister radically in a real, active, practical, get your hands dirty way.”Chimamanda Adichie
You want the world to do things differently? It begins with you. It is up to you to get involved in the things that you want to see change in. It is up to you to inspire the world, one step at a time.

9. “Step out of the history that is holding you back. Step into the new story you’re willing to create.”Oprah Winfrey
Don’t wallow in that history, experience, feeling that is holding you back and robbing you of moving forward and living the life you want. Take chances and step into the new story where you’re in charge of the narrative.

10. “If they want to call you crazy, fine. Show them what crazy can do”Serena Williams.
One of the greatest things on the internet right now is the Nike ‘Dream Crazier’ campaign featuring Serena Williams. I daresay it couldn’t have come at a better time. For each time they think, perceive, or say that you’re crazy simply because they just don’t get it, you show them exactly what crazy can do.

As we run the world daily, we shouldn’t forget to support each other rather than tear each other down. #communityovercompetition

Also, don’t forget to celebrate every woman in your corner, they deserve nothing but the absolute best.

Over to you…

What is that quite that keeps you going? Do you think women should be celebrated? I love hearing your thoughts!

  1. These are some very good quotes. Just the other day I was in a car with a couple of men, and they were saying that without women there would be nothing. It’s nice to hear men talking like that about women.

  2. These are all awesome – I especially love the one by Janelle Monaé! Our unique gifts are what make us amazing and powerful in this world. I hope all women can break out of what they believe they “should be” and be empowered to embrace their strengths whether they match societal norms or not. Thanks for sharing!

I love the quote about power needing to be taken. No one is going to hand you anything, you’ve gotta grab it by the horns.

So agree with all the quotes, especially “Power’s not given to you, you have to take it”. I can relate to this so much
