Reflections: A Look Back and Forward

I remember thinking a few months back that August my birth month was still very far. I woke up today realizing it’s only a month away. Whoever made the statement ‘time waits for no one’ couldn’t have said it in more appropriate words. The past 6 months have been a real ride! For me, I like to think it had all the elements; the good, the bad, the normal, the ugly, the bleh, the great, the infuriating, the nerve-racking, the fearful moments, and you just name it. Like I said, it was a real ride, and you know what? It was okay. Today’s post isn’t really like the usual #mondayinspiration you’re used to. This is what I can call a reflection; a look back and forward. And trust me, this is not some ‘fake deep’ stuff, this is what I believe individuals with an intentional mindset should do every now and then.

Now I think it’s safe to say Happy New Month! Welcome to July.

The interesting thing about time Is that it is life itself. Everything you do each day is what makes up what your life becomes. Failure to allow yourself put your time to good use allows for all forms of time wasters to creep up on you and land you on a journey of self sabotage.

While I’m totally not a fan of putting one’s self under unnecessary pressure in the name of goal attainment, I am however a fan of accountability and self evaluation.
If you had to look back at the last six months, would you say that you are moving in the direction of your goals? Now of course, your goals can change. You may not want the same things you wanted in March, that’s fine but the most important thing is that your daily actions are taking you to that place of fulfilment.

One of the goals I’m actually very committed to right now wasn’t even in my goals for the year, most definitely didn’t even make it to my vision board , it just sort of came up along the line. But I can say gladly that I have made great progress, and it’s only a matter of time before I come back to tell you guys that I finally achieved that goal.
Of course, this is not me trying to toot my own horn, this is me asking;

What have you been committed to in the last six months?
What intentions are you moving with going forward?

Goal Setting: 4 Reasons Why You Should Consider A Vision Board

Last year December, I had an epiphany and I just made up my mind that 2019 really had to be different. Despite the fact that some times, I’m distracted, unmotivated and tired, I breathe, give myself sometime to reconnect with what I want, and everything I need to do to be on that track again because I am fully aware of how uneasy and exhausting the whole thing can be.

Look back
But you know, I look forward to what the next half is going to bring. Not because I have it all figured out, far from it but because I have decided to let go of any self limiting beliefs I may be harbouring towards myself and I’ve decided to just go for it. Whatever ‘it’ may be.

Last week, I read an article on these self limiting beliefs , and I had a new understanding regarding how I see myself and how it can affect the eventual outcome of my decisions and actions. Your perception of yourself does more than you can imagine, trust me! And so, if you really want the next half of the year to be much better than the last, you need to do a little evaluation to get rid of any negative directive and destination beliefs you have about yourself.

I know that in my hands, I have the power to mould my year the way I want it to be and that’s exactly what I’m going to do. You know why? It’s because Fortune favours action.

I’m confident that the next couple of months are going to be filled with excitement and notable achievements for everyone of us.

You are amazing, brilliant and you have all it takes to unlock that which allows you to live the life that you deserve. I believe in you and I will always root for you.
Stay inspired and keep going.

Over To You…
Tell me something you’re looking forward to in the next half of the year. You know I love hearing from you!

  1. What have I been committed to in the last six months? Ehh, finishing school, creating content and product photography, all while trying to live day to day, haha! What intentions am I moving with going forward? I want to spend time more wisely, choose relationships more carefully. Thank you for sharing a bit of you and what’s going on with you in this post, Mide. I enjoyed reading it. Day by day we figure stuff out, and I can’t wait for you to achieve that thing that didn’t make it to your vision board. Heck, I haven’t even made my own vision board up until now!
